Professional Training

As well as being a placement provider we have written our own bespoke training programs and professional counsellor training, having recently had all of our courses re-validated and Quality checked by The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. (NCPS)

“The learning experience was totally that, an experience, taught in a realistic way instead of just text books, understanding things in context.” – Sharianne

NCPS Approved Training Courses

The NCPS play an important role within the profession of counselling in the UK and in May 2013 the Society was one of the first organisations to gain Accredited Register status with the Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register programme.

According to the NCPS "training as a counsellor is a substantial investment of time and money and you should choose carefully. There are many different courses which can make the choice a confusing one. In general, a course should include a balance of theoretical study and skills training and should encourage personal as well as professional development. It should, preferably, be recognised by a professional body like the NCS and agree to abide by that body’s Code of Ethics."

We have been assessed by The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society which means that in the opinion of the Society the training we offer is safe, ethical and delivered in a competent fashion.

Working Therapeutically with Children & Young People with an ADHD Neurotype

Prerequistites:

Course Length:

Cost:

Description:

£150 per person

Open to professionals

2 Days

This two-day professional development course is designed to equip qualified counsellors and therapists with the confidence, tools, and understanding to work safely and effectively with children and young people.

Whether you’re newly considering expanding your client base or already supporting young people in some capacity, this training provides a comprehensive, hands-on foundation for adapting your therapeutic practice to meet the unique developmental, relational, and emotional needs of this age group.

Importantly, the learning is also deeply relevant for practitioners who primarily work with adults, as many clients’ presenting difficulties stem from unmet needs, attachment disruptions, or emotional "stuckness" rooted in earlier developmental stages.

This course is therefore highly recommended for all therapists, offering insight into child and adolescent development that enriches work across the lifespan.

Day 1 – Understanding the ADHD Child

  • The Neurobiology of ADHD in Childhood

  • ADHD as a regulation difference, not a behavioural problem

  • The role of dopamine, sensory processing, and executive function in learning and emotion

  • Exploring attachment, co-regulation, and shame in the ADHD experience

  • Internalised ableism: understanding the messages children receive from adults and systems

  • Emotional Dysregulation & Rejection Sensitivity in CYP

  • Trauma-informed, play-based responses to distress behaviours

Day 2 – Therapeutic Strategies & Applied Practice

  • Play and movement as communication – using creative and embodied approaches

  • Supporting focus, flexibility, and self-esteem through relationship

  • Working with school struggles, transitions, and overwhelm

  • Co-regulation and rhythm: pacing therapy sessions to the ADHD nervous system

  • Strength-based, interest-led interventions for engagement and connection
